One problems we all face every day is how to create 3D exploding popcorn... Well perhaps not, but here's a quick solution anyway using Lightwave 7.5

Setting up a Popcorn emitter

  1. First add a Particle Emitter (Add>PFX>Add Particle Emitter)
  2. Select 'HV Emitter' as the Emitter Type
  3. This will bring up the FX_Emitter menu. From here you can set how many pieces of popcorn there will be, and how they will move.

Everything was left at default except for the following:

HyperVoxels

Next open the HyperVoxels interface (Scene Tab>HyperVoxels)
This is where you can adjust the settings to determine what the popcorn will look like.

On the left side you will see 'Emitter' under the Object Name list. Double Click on the 'Emitter' Text, you will see a check mark appear next to it.

On the right side of the screen apply the following settings and leave the rest at their default value.

Render

Next select the Camera and point it at the emitter object. Open 'Item Properties' and choose 'Enhanced Low' Antialiasing and Normal Motion Blur.

Finally press F9 for a render.
